Graduate Program
MOLECULAR BIOLOGY, MICROBIOLOGY AND BIOCHEMISTRY
Graduate programs are offered which lead to the Doctor of Philosophy and Master of Science degrees in Molecular Biology, Microbiology and Biochemistry. These interdisciplinary programs draw their faculty primarily from the Departments of Microbiology (MICR) and Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (BMB) at the Carbondale campus, and the Department of Medical Microbiology, Immunology and Cell Biology (MMICB) at the Springfield campus. The programs are designed to offer advanced training in biochemistry, biophysics, bacteriology, genetics, immunology, microbial physiology, virology, mycology, molecular biology, cell biology, developmental biology, and structural biology. Both degree programs require laboratory research.
